Abstract
1,165,938. Metallurgical ladles and crucibles. SOCIETE METALLURGIQUE D'IMPHY. 31 Oct., 1967 [28 Nov., 1966], No. 49464/67. Heading F4B. A vessel for handling molten metal, e.g. a ladle, comprises elements la made of a non- magnetic refractory alloy, e.g. austenitic steel, having mortice and tenon joints with adjacent elements, the interstices being filled with refractory cement which is electrically insulating. Threads or bands 6 of glass fibres or non- magnetic insulated metal are disposed lengthwise of the vessel attached to hooks 7 and similar elements 8 are wound helically round the first layer. The cement used is a refractory heatsetting cement of low viscosity, e.g. a slurry based on ethyl silicate, alcohol and powdered refractory such as sililmanite, zirconia &c.
