Abstract

1,165,151. Gas meters. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov.24, 1966 [Aug. 28, 1965], No.37100/65. Heading G1R. A dry gas meter mechanism having a crank spindle 16 set wholly above the measuring or diaphragm chambers 1, (2, Fig. 2, not shown), comprises a tangent arm 12 set at the lower end of the crank spindle, a crank or cranks 23 set at the upper end of the spindle, transfer or slide valves 25, links 24 connecting the valves with the crank or cranks, and flag rod arms 14 coupled with the tangent arm by links 13. Two diaphragm chambers are provided each comprising pans 1, (2) clamped together and housing clamping plates 9 for the diaphragm material 10. Flags 8 are pivoted to the clamping plates and are mounted on rods 5. The diaphragm chambers are secured to a fitting 11 made of metal, alloy or plastics which supports a plate 15 for the gearing associated with the crank spindle. Moulded plastics supports 17 for the slide or transfer valve gratings (18, Fig. 2, not shown), are mounted above the fitting 11 which also contains the common gas outlet pa passage 19. The crank spindle 16 is supported on a worm gear 26 which drives a worm spindle 28 via a worm spindle 27. The gearing is covered by a plastics, &c hood 29 and in order to provide adjustment of the valves 25, the crank 23 may be of composite form.
