Abstract
1,164,536. Deburring holes or cavities by electro-erosion. BRITISH MOTOR CORP. Ltd. June 20, 1968 [April 7, 1967], No. 15965/67. Heading C7B. A device for chamfering or deburring by electrolytic erosion the edges of a preformed hole or cavity 15 in a conductive workpiece 16, e.g. an oil-way in the crank-shaft of an I.C. engine, comprises a tubular casing 1 containing (or itself constituting - see Fig. 3) an electrolyte feed tube 2, a rod-like electrode 13 mounted on a support in the casing to project axially from a convergent discharge nozzle 11 at one end (nose cone 17) of the casing by which a pressurized electrolyte flow is established against the surface of the workpiece lying with the working zone, and an insulating plug 14 e. g. of nylon shrouding the electrode tip and serving to locate the electrode axially within the hole or cavity. The electrode support may be a flow separator block 7 having axial ducts 9, 10 allowing passage of electrolyte e. g. NaCl solution to and from the discharge nozzle. Non- insulating parts of the device may be of stainless steel.
