Abstract

116,369. Lewis, L. June 14, 1917. Partitioned jars. - Jam jars are divided into separate compartments by means of one or more partitions inserted in grooves formed in the jar, the compartments being closed either separately or collectively or both separately and collectively. As shown, the jar a is formed of corrugated material such as paper, cardboard, glass, china, earthenware, or metal, and the main partition b may be grooved on both sides. Either or both sides of the divided jar may be subdivided by further partitions b<1>. Each compartment is provided with a separate lid or cover d hinged to the top edge of its partition, and a loose or removable cover e is fitted on the upper end of the jar. A grooved ring for the attachment of a parchment cover may be formed on the body of the jar. In a modification, the jar is grooved at the top and bottom only, the intervening portion of the wall being left plain. According to the Provisional Specification, the bottom of the jar may screw on to the body of the jar.
