Abstract

1,163,306. Feeding sheets. AGFA-GEVAERT A.G. 20 Sept., 1966 [21 Sept., 1965], No. 41997/66. Heading B8R. A stack of film sheets is supported on edge on a surface 7 to lie at an acute angle to the vertical against a stop rail 8 in a position where pneumatic suction cup 9 may grip the lowest sheet adjacent the rail, move the sheet upwards over the rail and guide it downwards to transport rollers 15 and 16. The rollers 15 and 16 are mounted for movement away from each other to admit a sheet and towards each other to grip the sheet. Aligning comb 14 moves into the path of movement of a sheet when the rollers are apart to position the sheet for gripping. Feeler rollers 17 and 18 actuate microswitch 19 upon passage of a single sheet between rollers 15 and 16 and the sheet is fed by rollers 23-28 to a developing apparatus (1, Fig. 1, not shown). If more than one sheet passes simultaneously between rollers 17 and 18 microswitch 20 lights a warning lamp and stops rollers 15, 16 and 23-28. Magnet 22 actuates a flap 21 so that the incorrectly fed sheets are deflected along wall 2g and brought to the outside by manual actuation of rollers 15 and 16 using hand wheel 3. Additional film sheets may be manually introduced between rollers 30 and 31, depressing feeler 34, causing the operation of cup 9 to cease and rollers 30, 31 to be coupled to the drive. Film sheets are introduced into the stack by a slider (5, Fig. 1, not shown) mounted to be movable in a plane parallel to the intended plane of the stack and which engages the edges of sheets and enables them to be pushed through a light-tight hinged flap into the interior of the casing of the apparatus where resilient means push the sheets out of range of the slider and into range of the suction cup 9.
