Abstract

1,162,136. Carrying handles. MORPHYRICHARDS Ltd. 1 Nov., 1966 [3 Nov., 1965], No. 46521/65. Headings A4G and A4U. A carrying handle 2 is mounted on the back 1 of an electric fire by a sliding pivot and is prevented from pivoting when in the lifting position. The handle 2 comprises a closed loop with a handgrip (5), cranked sides 9 and a lower side 6 with a displaced central portion 7 slidably pivoted in a slot defined between a bracket 4 and the back 1. A second bracket 3 has a ramp 11 defining a lead-in, for portions 6 of the handle 2, to a recess defined between the back 1 and an upper portion 12 of the bracket 3. When the fire is lifted the handle portions 6 become locked in the recesses under the weight of the fire. When not in use the handle 2 pivots downwardly behind the back 1.
