Abstract
1,161,332. Detecting boiling. EUROPEAN ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITY. Oct. 31, 1966 [Nov. 5, 1965], No.48650/66. Heading G1N. Apparatus for detecting boiling in a liquid comprises a pressure-sensitive transducer in the liquid producing electrical signals when subjected to the pressure changes associated with the formation and/or condensation of vapour bubbles. The transducer comprises a parabolic reflector 20 Fig. 4 centrally welded to the lower of two flanges 17, 18 about a diaphragm 16 associated with a Piezo-electric or Piezo-resistive element 15. A number of transducers may be distributed across the liquid peripherally with respect to the boiling zone.
