Abstract

1,161,256. Water heaters; burners. JOH. VAILLANT K.G. 29 Aug., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966; 26 July, 1967], No. 39482/67. Headings F4A and F4T. An instantaneous water heater heated by an oil burner and having water flow tubes 4<SP>1</SP> extending through fins 4 mounted in a heating shaft 7, the oil being sprayed through a nozzle 15 to burn with a blue flame over a burner plate 9, mixed with air supplied by a blower 20, has the air introduced into the mixing chamber 10 from below via an annular chamber 12 which encloses the heating shaft and mixing chamber, the heating shaft wall being cooled by the entering air. The combustible mixture is ignited by a device 23 and on starting from cold the air for combustion is heated by electrical heating coils 24 which are switched off at a predetermined air temperature by a thermostat 26 having a sensor 25 in the chamber 12. A heating coil 31 which can be switched on and off by the thermostat 26 heats the mixing chamber 10 when cold to prevent condensation on a baffle plate 27 and a screen 30 which together with whirl-producing vanes 29 contribute towards mixing of the air and fuel.
