Abstract
1,160,774. Rotary positive-displacement pumps and motors. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 9, 1967 [April 5, 1966], No.11230/67. Heading F1F. A rotary positive-displacement pump, compressor or motor of the gyratory-piston type comprises a pair of pistons 8, 8' lodged in chambers, 14, 14' containing fixed radial partitions 5, 5' and annular walls 3, 3', the ends of said chambers being in communication with channels 6, 7 and 6', 7' for the working fluid. The pistons are constituted by annular flanges 28, 29, 28', 29' on a transverse member 25 and two separate members housing balancing weights 27, 27', these three members being rotatively mounted on crankshafts 40, 40' that are coupled to each other by gears 44, 45 and to a driving motor 30 (when the machine operates as a pump or compressor). Seals 43, 43' of the bellows type prevent the working fluid escaping through bearings 36, 37, 36', 37'. The channels aforesaid may be connected in series or in parallel with one another. Alternatively, only a single piston is provided, Figs. 1 to 6 (not shown). The profile of each piston includes rectilinear portions adjacent a slot that gives clearance for the respective partition 5, or 5', and similar portions are comprised in the profile of the peripheral wall of each chamber, Fig. 7 (not shown).
