Abstract
1,159,801. Embossed decorative ware. C. B. THRUSH, and M. A. THRUSH. 1 Sept., 1966 [2 June, 1965], No. 23463/65. Heading B5A. Embossed, decorative ware, e.g. a simulated metal plaque, is formed in a mould having a relief pattern on at least one surface thereof, by applying a catalytically hardenable syn. thetic resin, e.g. polyester, loaded with metal powder, e.g. copper, bronze or aluminium, which is chemically inert to the resin, so that the wt. of the metal powder is at least 60% of the weight of the resin, applying a layer of fibrous reinforcement to the resin when it has at least partially hardened, allowing the resin to harden in situ and removing the hardened article from the mould. The metal powder is preferably of a size to pass through a 200-mesh BS screen. A fixing member, e.g. a hook may be inserted before setting of the resin. The ware may be made in two layers, having a layer of resin loaded with plaster of Paris or sand applied to the metal-loaded lining of the mould. At least one colouring additive may be added.
