Abstract

1,158,514. Container closures. DANIEL MONTGOMERY & SON Ltd. 21 March, 1968 [22 March, 1967], No. 13332/67. Heading B8T. A pouring device for bottles to aid pouring in a continuous stream comprises a tubular portion 1 having a pouring end 2 flared outwardly and an inner end 7 which enters the bottle neck 12. A radially extending flange 3 has a dependent cylindrical skirt 4 with an inwardly extending annular bead 5 which can engage with a bead on the bottle neck. The tubular member has an annular skirt 9 and ports 11. When the bottle is upended, since hydrostatic pressure is greater at ports 11 than at the end 8, liquid flows through the ports 11 and air enters the hole 8, so that liquid is dispensed in a stream line flow. The increased rate of flow around the skirt 9 facilitates smooth pouring.
