Abstract

1,156,350. Lamps. SERVICE STEEL & ENG. Ltd. 2 Oct., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 44809/67. Heading F4R. A housing for an incandescent lamp, especially for use as a floodlight or spotlight comprises an elongated casing 2 closed at one end 3 and having means, e.g. a base-plate 5, connected to the rear end by bolts 6 carrying springs 8 so as to be movable towards and away from the open end, to carry the lamp socket 4 and means engaging the wall of the lamp envelope, e.g. an annular plate 10 with the inner edge 10a shaped to conform to the shape of the lamp envelope, and connected to an annular support plate 9 by bolts 12 carrying springs 11 for urging the plate 10 away from the socket 4 so that the lamp when mounted is under tension. The front of the casing 2 extends beyond the plate 10 to protect the lamp from direct blows. A reflecting coating may be formed on the inner surface of the sides of the lamp envelope or a separate reflector provided.
