Abstract
1,155,834. Window fasteners. ARCHIBALD KENRICK & SONS Ltd. 22 June, 1966 [16 July, 1965], No. 6418/69. Divided out of 1155833. Headings E2A and E2F. A window fastener engaging in use with a keeper on the fixed frame of the window, has a spigot pivoting in a bore in a mounting member and retained therein by a resiliently expandible ring captive in a groove in the spigot, which expands to snap fit into a counterbore at the end of the bore. The mounting member 33 has a projecting tubular portion 34, counterbored at one end to provide frusto-conical shoulder 34a, and flared 33a at the other end. The lever has a spigot 35, grooved to form a shoulder 35a and a frusto-conical portion 35b, the spigot being a sliding and pivotal fit in the bore of the mounting member. A resilient ring 36, made of wire or a synthetic resin material, which in its unstressed state is larger than the bore, but smaller internally than the groove, is sprung into the groove and retained therein. When the spigot is passed through the bore, the ring contracts into the deepest part of the groove, and then expands into the counterbore to retain the spigot in the bore, and secure the handle to the mounting member.
