Abstract

1,155,810. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 June, 1968 [8 June, 1967], No. 26716/68. Heading H1D. A cathode-ray tube provided with an antiimplosion clamping band 8 which is clamped round the tube with a layer of adhesive 7 applied to prevent the band slipping off, is characterized in that longitudinal grooves 6 are provided at the corners of the glass envelope to allow sufficient adhesive to be inserted at these areas. A metal intermediate band 9 may be disposed between the band 8 and the tube wall, and the bands may terminate short of the edge of the screen to allow the front of the tube to protrude from a cabinet.
