Abstract

[Also in Divisions H1 and H5] An electric heater 11 has a terminal head 13 comprising a hollow sheet metal pressing through the walls of which the ends of the heating element 12 are brought for connection to supply terminals or tubular contact pins 27, the edges of the pressing being spun or pressed over the periphery of an annular metal plate 19 supporting on insulating base 26 mounting the pins 27. Plate 19 has base 26 secured to it by screws 23, 24, and screw 24 engages in an earthing pin 30. A plunger 64 disengages the plug and socket connection to the heater when the melting of solder allows a spring 71 to move the plunger to its outer position. The heater is an immersion heater, e.g. for a kettle, or is incorporated in an iron or space heater.
