Abstract

1,153,408. Acylated protein hydrolysates. J. V. MORELLE. 6 Oct., 1967 [13 Oct., 1966], No. 45742/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] An acylated depeptided protein hydrolysate wherein the acyl radical corresponds to RCO-, R being a C 6-29 aliphatic chain, which is waterinsoluble and lipo-soluble is prepared by hydrolysing a protein to provide a mixture of amino-acids which are acylated with a compound of formula RCOX where X is halogen or hydroxy. In the examples casein is hydrolysed in HCl, the hydrolysate passed through an ion exchange resin to remove peptides and the solution of amino acids then treated with palmitoyl chloride. Other acylated products are obtained by hydrolysing collagen and keratin and acylating the products with palmitoyl chloride, lauryl chloride, stearyl chloride and oleoyl chloride.
