Abstract

115,289. Burlew, G. O. May 14, 1917. Teeth-cleaning appliances. -Disks or hand appliances for cleaning and polishing natural teeth are made of soft vulcanized rubber with which is incorporated during manufacture a cleaning or polishing material, such as powdered pumice and chalk, the surface of the disk or hand rubber becoming furred in use. The disks, preferably of the form shown in Fig. 2, are used on a mandrel, while in the hand appliance shown in cross section in Fig. 4 the rubber 2 is formed with depending members 5, which may be used for supplying medicaments to the teeth and gums during polishing of the teeth or massaging of the gums. The rubber mav be dovetailed into the handle or secured in any convenient way. The material is preferably of an even degree of hardness throughout.
