Abstract
1,151,611. Tubular heat-exchangers. A. JOHNSON & CO. (LONDON) Ltd. 9 Nov., 1967 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7352/67. Heading F4S. A rotary scraped-surface heat-exchanger comprises a scraper blade 10 mounted on a blade carrier 7 which, in turn, is so mounted by holding members 3 on an elongated rotor 2 that, in operation, centrifugal force causes the carrier 7 to turn with respect to the rotor about an axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor so that the blade is forced against and scrapes the interior wall 1 of the stator. The scraper blade is of material e.g. soft metal or plastics with a lower melting temperature than the metallic carrier. The carrier is of bar shape extending parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor which is less thick than wide. Heat exchange occurs between the material inside the stator in contact with the interior surface of the wall 1 and a heat exchange medium in contact with outer surface of the wall.
