Abstract

1,151,464. Reinforced refractory. TRW Inc. 22 May, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 23736/67. Heading C1J. A composite material comprises a refractory oxide reinforced with up to 10% b.v. of wires of an alloy of rhenium with tungsten or molybdenum, the amount of rhenium being insufficient to provide a sigma phase alloy. The oxides specified are zirconia which may be stabilized with calcin, and thoria. The wires can be discrete or formed into a mesh.
