Abstract

1,151,094. Builder motion. P.K.M. HYDRAULIK KARL-MARX-STADT V.E.B. 3 June, 1966, No. 24871/66. Heading D1D. In a spinning or twisting machine, the reversal prints of the traverse are determined by two limit switches displaced in the same or opposite directions according to a programme by rotatable threaded spindles; the spindles are driven from separate motors by forward and reverse gears including magnetic clutches, and the following are provided: (1) a speed selector for each motor; (2) a synchronizing clutch between the forward and reverse gears; (3) a time relay for determining the length of time for which the clutches are effective, connected with the gears by way of a selector switch; (4) a rotary selector for adjusting one or other of, the speed of the motors, the time relay, or a first counter which determines the interval between the periods for which the clutches are effective and which is acted on by a frequency transmission; and (5) a second counter between the first counter and the rotary selector. For reversing the traverse, a member 13, Fig. 1, carried by the spindle-rail or ring-rail engages at each end of its travel limit-switches 11, 12 which may be pneumatic or contact-free switches. These are on nuts 9, 10 which move as threaded rods 1, 2 are rotated, by motors 5 and 6 through boxes 3, 4 containing forward and reverse gears. The motors run constantly, but the rods are driven in intermittent steps, and' whether, and in what direction, they are driven depends upon the condition of clutches associated with the gears. The overall speed of displacement of the switches 11, 12 depends on (i) the duration of each step, and (ii) the speed of the motors. (i) is controlled by a time-relay 30 connected to the clutches through a selector switch 53. The time-relay is operated by a counter 25 which counts impulses delivered by a pulsetransmitter 28. (ii) is controlled by a rotary selector 21 from which current is supplied to the motors via rotary speed selectors 15, 16 and is connected on the one hand to series resistors or tappings for potential dividers or transformers, and on the other to a second counter 24 connected to counter 25. The arrangements on the two boxes are identical. In box 4, Fig. 2 not shown, motor (6) constantly drives gear (8), which is connected to a gear (34) rotatably mounted on rod (2) through a gear (33) rotatably mounted on a shaft (35). A gear (36) fast on shaft (35) is connected to gear (37) fast on rod (2) by a gear (38). Gears (33, 34) can be clutched to their respective shafts by coils (39, 40). When neither coil is energized, no drive is transmitted to the rod. When coil (39) only is energized, the rod is driven through train (36, 38, 37); when clutch (40) is energized, the rod is driven in the' opposite direction, through train (33, 34). To connect the two boxes synchronously there is gearing 14 controlled by a clutch (51). The timer 30 receives pulses from counter 25 receiving signals from 28; after a certain number of pulses, the counter transmits a pulse to the timer to operate selector 53. After a given interval, the timer drops out and the counter is zeroized and starts counting again. The speed selectors 15, 16 are in circuit with rotary selector 21 receiving from a second counter 24 connected to the first. After 24 has received a set number of pulses, a signal passes to selector 21 and the counter is zeroized. Details. The relay 30 may include an RC member, either on both components being varied. Transmitter 28 may be a programme transmitter, a time-switch or switching relay. The counters 24, 25 may be of electromechanical, pneumatic or electronic type. Alternatives. The selector 21 may be connected to adjust the number of impulses counted at 25, or it may be connected to adjust the number of RC members connected in timer 30. In the latter case, the speed selectors 15, 16 are dispensed with.
