Abstract
1,149,766. Polysulphide compositions; sulphur compositions. DUNLOP CO. (E.A. Dudley and N. S. Grace). 30 Aug., 1966 [4 Sept., 1965], No. 37889/65. Headings C3N and C3R. [Also in Division C5] A sulphur composition is obtained by heating a mixture of (a) an olefine containing at least two carbon-to-carbon double bonds and (b) the product of heating sulphur with a thione or with a polymeric organic polysulphide. There may be from 1 to 99% by weight of the product (b) in the mixture. The mixture may contain from 20 to 80% by weight of free sulphur. Suitable products obtained by heating sulphur with a thione are described in Specification 1,102,973, and suitable products obtained by heating sulphur with a non-cross-linked polysulphide and with a cross-linked polysulphide are described in Specifications 1,117,702, and 1,146,000, respectively. In examples divinyl benzene is mixed with a product obtained by heating sulphur with s-trithiane and by heating sulphur with a poly(methylene tetrasulphide), and the mixtures are heated.
