Abstract
1,148,878. Securing reels on hubs. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 11 May, 1966 [11 May, 1965], No. 19763/65. Heading F2U. A magnetic tape or like reel 1 is releasably held on a hub 1 by clamps 14 pivoted at 12, 13 to the hub 2 and an axially movable annulus 6 which is locked in the clamping position by balls 15 engaging a groove 18 therein. On depression of a button 7 the balls 15 move into a groove 17 therein to hold the button 7 depressed and release the annulus 6 which moves right under the action of a spring 8 and pivots the clamps 14 away from the reel 1. The clamps 14 may, as shown, be springs or may be rigid with one of their pivots resiliently mounted on the hub as annulus.
