Abstract
1,147,499. Spray-dried starch xanthate. TEE-PAK Inc. 5 Dec., 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 55275/67. Heading C3U. Starch xanthate having a pH of less than 14, and preferably an alkali content from 0À01-2 moles per mol. of starch, is converted to powder by spray-drying. The xanthate may be decausticized prior to drying, e.g. by acid addition, ion exchange or dialysis. The product is storage stable, especially at low temperature. Drying may be effected with air such that the temperaature of the xanthate is not raised substantially in excess of the wet-bulb temperature of the drying air.
