Abstract
1,146,658. Boring earth &c. ICELS-PALI S.p.A. 14 July, 1966 [25 Sept., 1965], No. 31634/66. Heading E1F. A device for driving a tube 5 into the ground comprises a guide tube 1 adapted to transfer driving force to the tube 5, and a tubular hammer 2 slidable in the tube 1 and raised by a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly 3 but permitted to fall freely to drive the tube 5. The assembly is pivoted at 12 and resiliently held against the tube 1 by springs 14. The hammer is raised by the assembly engaging a projection 10 on the hammer, and is permitted to fall freely by cams 11 disengaging the assembly from the projection. The core may be removed through the hammer during driving of the tube.
