Abstract

1,146,006. Water-soluble salts of sulphuric acid esters of sorbitol. MEITO SANGYO K.K. 21 July, 1966, No. 32780/66. Addition to 1,110,939. Heading C2C. Water-soluble salts of partial or complete sulphuric acid esters of sorbitol, useful as antipeptic ulcer agents, are prepared by sulphating sorbitol, e.g. with sulphur trioxide, fuming sulphuric acid or chlorosulphonic acid, in the absence of a basic solvent, and adding an inorganic base, e.g. sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide or ammonium hydroxide, to the product. Novel sodium salts of sulphuric acid esters of sorbitol containing about three and four sulphate groups per molecule are described.
