Abstract

1,145,016. Rock crushers. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 7 April, 1966 [13 April, 1965], No. 15709/65. Heading B2A. A rock crushing and stowing machine comprises a helically-arranged crushing and conveying member, viz a series of plates 4 rotatably mounted on a shaft 3 in a chamber 2 which has a feed inlet 5, part of which is formed by a hard metal pad 10, and an outlet 6 located towards one end of the chamber. As described, the plates 4 are arranged as a double-start helix and the leading edge of each of the members 4 has a hard-wearing pad 9. The outlet communicates with pressure air supply conduits 8 and a stowing pipe 7, and is angled to the longitudinal axis of the chamber so .as to act as a venturi. Dust formed m the chamber 2 is thus drawn into the air stream in the stowing pipe.
