Abstract

1,143,909. Textile machines; speed control. ETS LOUIS LEPOUTRE & CIE. 18 July, 1967 [18 July, 1966], No. 33034/67. Heading D1F. A device for controlling the speed of a textile machine e.g. a ring spinning machine, dependent upon the rate of thread breakage comprises a plurality of thread breakage detectors emitting at least one pulse per thread breakage, means for locating points of thread breakage connected to said detectors, a breakage totalizer receiving and adding said pulses from the detectors, an integrator receiving the pulses to record the observed rate of thread breakage in a given time, a comparator unit receiving pulses representative of the observed rate and comparing this with a predetermined optimum thread breakage rate, means for presetting the given time associated with the observed rate, the comparator unit emitting a signal when the observed rate differs from the optimum rate, said signal actuating means for adjusting the speed of the machine. In a preferred embodiment, the signal actuates a variable motor connected to the machine. A further device may be incorporated for determining the functioning time of the variable motor. The breakage detectors may be photoelectric, electric, electromagnetic or electronic. The breakage locator means preferably comprises a lamp.
