Abstract

1,143,022. Endless conveyers. RUD KETTENFABRIK RIEGER & DIETZ, K.G. 28 Sept., 1966 [28 Sept., 1965], No. 43291/66. Heading B8A. In an endless chain conveyer, spaced load carrying platforms 31 (not shown in Fig. 8, which shows both plan and elevation of the conveyer chain diagrammatically in the same Figure) are maintained in a horizontal attitude all round the path of the conveyer by providing attitude maintaining chains 52, 53, 56, 57 at each end of the conveyer, in addition to the normal conveying chains 50, 51, there being means to make and break where necessary, along the conveyer path, connections between each platform 31 and the chains 52, 53. These connections are formed by pins 32 the outer end of each of which is engageable, on outward axial movement of the pin 32, with a link of the appropriate chain 52 or 53 as the case may be. The axial movement of the pin is derived from guide rails 39 on the conveyer frame, which engage a roller 38 carried by a member 40 of the pin 32. The platform 31 is connected to the chains 50, 51, by pins 35 which are permanently connected to the chains. The platform is supported by rollers 45, 47 which run on rails 46. One of the chains 52, 53 may be omitted. In a modified conveyer (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) the only vertical component of movement of the platforms 31 is around return sprockets at each end of the conveyer. In this construction there is a single pair of auxiliary chains extending the whole length of the conveyer instead of the two separate pairs 52, 53 and 56, 57 at respective ends of the conveyer as in Fig. 8. In another modification (Fig. 10, not shown), the conveyer is of right-angled configuration in plan. There is only one conveying chain which extends over the whole path of the conveyer, and this is guided around the right-angled bend in the conveyer path, by rollers (67).
