Abstract
1,142,967. Moulding concrete blocks. K. YAMASITA, and Z. YAMASITA. 29 March, 1966 [31 March, 1965(3)], No. 13897/66. Heading B5A. Concrete blocks are cast under pressure in a vibrated mould wherein the mould, the vibrator, and a press device are resiliently mounted in the machine frame to prevent the transmission of vibrations thereto, and the mould is rotatable through 180 degrees to an inverted ejection position. Closed bottom concrete moulds 6 are carried by a mould frame 7 which is provided with vibrators (12), (Fig. 2, not shown), on the underside thereof, actuated by an electric motor 11, and which also carries a pressure applying frame 15, to which is attached a plurality of pressure applying beams 17 mounted on vibration absorbing rubber blocks 16. The frame 15 is actuated to apply pressure to a pallet 18 on the upper surface of the moulds by means of a pair of piston-rods 14 extending from fluid pressure cylinders (13) attached to the underside of the mould frame 7. The frame 7 is rotatable through 180 degrees on a pair of stub axles 8 supported in bearings 4 which are resiliently mounted to the machine frame 15 by rubber blocks 5, whereby the moulded blocks are lowered on pallet 18 as the inverted frame 15 is either displaced by the weight of the blocks or by the fluid pressure cylinders 13, if double acting, so that beams 17 locate between parallel upstanding plates 31 provided on a plate 30, mounted on rubber shock absorbers 29, to deposit the pallet on rollers 32 providing an inclined surface from whence the pallet is transferred to a conveyer 33. The moulds 6 are charged from a hopper 24 by a box 22 which is reciprocated by a double acting cylinder 23. The mould frame 7 is rotated by sprockets 19, 19<SP>1</SP>, each respectively attached to one stub axle 8 and to each of which is fixed a respective chain 20, 20<SP>1</SP> connected respectively to single acting cylinders 21, 21<SP>1</SP>, whereby rotation of the mould frame 7 is effected in each direction. The power cylinders 13, 21, 21<SP>1</SP> and 23 can be actuated by an hydraulic system or, with the exception of cylinder 21 which bears the descending weight of the concrete block and is provided with a throttled fluid return path, the cylinders may be actuated pneumatically. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown), the mould (35) is mounted on the moulding frame (7) by rubber mountings (34) and vibrators (12) on the underside of the mould (35) are driven by a motor (11) mounted on vibration absorbing material (36) to the machine frame; the mould frame (7) being manually or mechanically rotated to the ejection position.
