Abstract

1,142,863. Earth and mineral - excavating machines. WEBSTER EQUIPMENT Ltd. 25 Oct., 1966 [3 Nov., 1965], No. 46628/65. Heading E1F. An excavator assembly comprises a mount 3 for securing to a tractor, a hydraulic motor incorporated in the mount and receiving, when the mount is secured on the tractor, pressurised hydraulic fluid from a source on the tractor to drive a shaft 8 rotatably supported in the mount to carry beyond one side of the mount a cutter drum or digger wheel 9. The mount preferably comprises a pair of laterally spaced, articulated, ram-adjusted arms 5,7 having a motor and gearing for driving the shaft 8 in the outer member 7 of each arm. The shaft 8 extends between, through and outwards of the outer members 7. The digger wheel or cutter drum may be so associated with either end of the shaft 8 as to rotate about the axis of the shaft 8 or about an axis at right angles to axis of shaft 8.
