Abstract

1,142,725. Printing processes. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 3 June, 1966 [4 June, 1965], No. 24824/66. Addition to 1,044,746. Heading B6C. In a method of printing from a lithographic plate prepared as described in Specification 1,044,746, the plate is printed in a press having a damping fountain solution containing ions (e.g. zinc, furous or furic) which form an insoluble hydrophilic precipitate in the areas rendered hydrophilic. A complexing agent may be added, such as lactic acid, citric acid or tartaric acid. The ions are in the form of salts soluble in the fountain solution, such as ferric nitrate, feric nitrate monohydrate or zinc acetate dihydrate. The fountain solution may contain water, a phosphate and glycerine.
