Abstract

1,141,565. Ceiling panels. W. W. THOMPSON. 15 Aug., 1967 [3 April, 1967], No. 37563/67. Headings E1B and E1W. A rectangular acoustical ceiling panel 10 has a bottom surface flush with which extend supporting flanges 24, 26 along two adjacent edges, supported flanges 28, 30 being along the other two edges, all the panels 10 being installed in a ceiling in parallel rows with the latter flanges of each panel 10 supported on the flanges 24, 26 of adjacent panels, the flanges 28, 30 of each panel 10 being spaced upward from the bottom surface 14 thereof a distance, whereby the surface 14 of all panels 10 are flush. Each panel 10 has flanges 60, 62 and 60', 62' along the sides with the flanges 24, 26 whereby the panel 10 may be suspended in service. The surface 14 is that of a perforated sheet above which is spaced a top sheet 16, sound-deadening material being therebetween. Along the said edges thereof are L- shaped members 50, 50' having portions 52, 52' between the sheets 14, 16, with flanges 54, 54' at the base forming part of the flanges 24, 26 and flanges 60, 60' at the top.
