Abstract

1,141,289. Winches. CANADIAN SHIPBUILDING & ENG. Ltd. 28 March, 1966 [23 April, 1965], No. 13616/66. Heading B8B. [Also in Division F2] A winch winding drum is driven by an hydraulic transmission comprising a variable stroke pump 12 of the tilting head type driving a variable stroke motor 14 of the tilting head type which drives the winding drum through a worm 36 and worm wheel 40 and spur gearing. The pump 12 is driven by an electric motor which may drive the pump of an independent hydraulic transmission driving a second windi ng drum. All the elements are mounted in close proximity to each other to minimize the deck area occupied.
