Abstract

1,139,843. False-twist crimping. UNIROYAL, Inc. 18 Nov., 1966 [7 Dec., 1965], No. 51662/66. Heading DID and D1F. False-twist crimping apparatus in which the false-twist is applied by a fluid twister, and in which the fluid - eg. air or steam -leaves the twister through the yarn inlet, has at the yarn inlet a diffuser having an axial bore flaring outwardly from the inlet, and two or more openings spaced circumferentially around the bore so that the fluid can escape laterally from the inlet, rather than axially towards the yarn heater. The diffuser is screw threaded into the yarn inlet while the openings may be perpendicular or inclined to the axis of the bore.
