Abstract
1,138,228. Valves. APPARATENFABRIEK PLAISIER N.V. 19 Dec., 1966, No. 56691/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] In a central heating system including a hot water boiler connected with radiators into a closed circuit, a thermostatic valve is provided in the boiler outlet to the radiators. As illustrated, the valve controls a boiler by-pass 5<SP>1</SP> in addition to the line 3<SP>1</SP> leading to the radiators. The thermostat 2<SP>1</SP> is heated partly within the boiler and is of the wax filled type operating a spring loaded disc 13 between positions in which the by-pass and the outlet are fully closed. The thermostat is provided so that flow through the boiler will not be allowed until the temperature of the latter is sufficiently high to allow entry of cold water from the radiators without causing significant condensation of combustion products in the boiler heating arrangement. The boiler by-pass includes a fixed or adjustable restrictor, Fig. 1 (not shown). In another embodiment. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the by-pass is omitted and the biasing spring acts on the side of the valve disc remote from the thermostat. The outlet connection includes a cover (21) which may be removed to allow removal of the thermostat.
