Abstract
1,135,860. Bottling, &c. J. G. H. OLLIER, G. F. GROSSHANS, and R. G. MASSON. 4 Oct., 1966 [8 Oct., 1965], No. 44311/66. Heading B8T. A valve head 69 is of hollow cylindrical construction so that as it slides downwards along a fixed piston rod 54 from its open position, Fig. 2, to its closed position, Fig. 3, when it shuts a hole 52 in a bottle, &c. filling nozzle 25, drops of liquid, &c. in the hole 52 are sucked into the valve head for subsequent discharge. Liquid, &c., is passed to the nozzle 25 through a duct 26 and thence to the valve hole 52. The valve head 69 is biased upwards to the open position by a spring 61, and is closed by admission of compressed air through a pipe 21 to act on a ring-shaped servo piston 56 and slide the valve head downwards. Liquid, &c. is fed from a pipe (9), Fig. 1 (not shown), through a duct (12) and a resilient diaphragm valve (10) to which controlling compressed air is admitted through a pipe (16), the liquid, &c. then passing to cylinders (3) each of which feeds a filling nozzle (25) as described.
