Abstract
1,135,714. Resistance welders. SQUARE D CO. 22 Feb., 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 8340/67. Heading H2H. A phase controlled thyristor is fired by trains of H.F. pulses which are terminated just prior to supply voltage zeros. Thyristors SCR1, SCR2 are fired by pulse trains from relaxation oscillator transistors T2, T3 controlled by a unijunction transistor T1 which is fired by the charge on a capacitor C1 due to a " O " output (i.e. ground potential) from an OR gate comprising NOR1, NOR2 elements, one " O " input to which is derived from the supply 5 through a phase-shifting circuit 12, a wave squarer 14 and a mixer 16 which is also fed with double supply frequency " 1 " pulses extending over the supply voltage zero which inhibit the operation of transistor oscillators T1, T2. A " 1 " input to NOR1 is also provided when one or both fuses F1, F2 are blown due to overload current in a transformer TC3. The arrangement may control the current in a resistance welder.
