Abstract

113,512. Deutsch - Luxemburgische Bergwerks-und Hutten - Akt. - Ges., and Klinkenberg, A. March 7, 1917. Addition to 105,548. Cast-iron processes.-Relates to a modification of the invention described in the parent Specification by using to deoxidize iron and steel baths, instead of carbohydrates as described in such Specification, products derived from cellulose such as peat and brown coal which, on being heated, yield gas and do not part with more than 50 per cent. of their whole in carbon. These products derived from cellulose may be used in iron and steel baths free from oxygen, and in ferro-chromium and other iron alloy baths to carburize the metal.
