Abstract

1,134,170. Non-sweating lipstick. MEARL CORP. 1 May, 1967 [1 July, 1966], No. 20022/67. Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] A composition comprises a dispersion of a nacreous pigment in a vehicle therefor, and contains 0.3-5.6% of a water-insoluble cellulose ester or ether. The pigment may be natural pearl essence, bismuth oxychloride or TiO 2 coated mica flakes in castor oil, aleyl alcohol and/or isopropyl myristate. Specified cellulose compounds are ethyl cellulose, nitrocellulose, and cellulose acetate-butyrate or acetate-propionate. A lipstick comprises 5-50% of the above pigment composition, so as to contain 0.1-2% of the said cellulose compound, and also contains candenilla wax, a colouring matter and 2, 5-di-t-butyl hydroquinone. The lipstick is free from "sweating" i.e. the migration of oil-drops to the surface at high temperature.
