Abstract

1,133,616. Shaft seals. MINISTER OF TECHNOLOGY. 12 Aug., 1966 [31 May, 1965], No. 23053/65. Heading F2B. A seal 10 of sintered metal is a clearance fit on a rod 12 along part of its length C and an interference fit over another part of its length A, the seal being capable of resiliently deforming to accommodate small lateral displacements of the rod. The seal may be made of sintered phosphor-bronze or steel and the pores in the metal used as lubricating passages.
