Abstract
1,133,511. Sulphur-containing phosphorus esters. STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO. 26 July, 1966, No. 33531/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Novel compounds of the formula where R is alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl or phenyl, R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl, X is oxygen or sulphur and n is an integer from 1 to 3, inclusive, are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula R(R 1 O)P(X)-SM, where M is hydrogen or an alkali metal, with a compound of formula ClCH 2 O-C 6 H 5 (Cl) n . When X is sulphur the reaction is preferably effected by mixing the appropriate chloromethyl substituted chlorophenyl ether and substituted phosphonodithioic acid, or the alkali metal salt thereof, in the presence of an organic base, e.g. triethylamine. When X is oxygen, a substituted phosphonochloridothioate may be used as starting material and is first hydrolysed to the phosphonothioic acid which is then treated with a chloromethylphenyl ether in the basic hydrolysis solution. The compounds are insecticides and acaricides.
