Abstract
1,133,213. Battery charging systems depending on variable speed generators. INTERELECTRIC SACHSELN A.G. 7 Oct., 1965 [7 Oct., 1964], No. 42686/65. Heading H2H. An electrical power pack has a housing containing a rechargeable gas-tight battery and one or more generators manually driven through gearing for charging the battery at a high rate, say 10-100 times the normal rate. The generator outputs may be connected in series or parallel and a disconnecting device such as a rectifier, relay or manually operated switch may prevent reverse current flow. The speed of the arrangement may be limited by a centrifugal governor and the battery may be alternatively charged from a main supply. The housing may include a dry shaver head or other small appliance driven from one generator acting as a motor. The units comprising the pack may be arranged as plug-in units. The battery may be disconnected to afford direct operation of an appliance from the generator(s).
