A composition for the relief of symptoms of osteoarthritis and angina pectoris comprises a dry residue of the reaction product of: aspirin powdered, desicated, undefatted beef liver; one or more sulphonamides selected from sulphadiazine, sulphamethazine, sulphacetamide, sulphisoxazole, salicylazosulphapyridine, sulphamethoxypyridazine, sulphamethoxypyrimidine, sutphaethylthiadiazole, succinyl sulphathiazole, phthalylsulphathiazole, phthalylsulphacetamide and sulphaguanidine; and a placenta extract formed by mixing finely ground placenta with an anqueous alcoholic extracting mixture to form a liquid extract, adding an alkaline hydroxide to produce a precipitate which is insoluble in water at pH 7.0, separating the precipitate and evaporating the filtrate to produce a dry residue. The preparation of the reaction product is described. The composition may be encapsulated for use.
