A yarn comprises heat shrinkable polypivalolactone fibres or filaments, and other fibres or filaments - for example of cotton, wool, rayon, nylon, polyacrylonitrile, or polyterephthalate, polypivalolactone, or polypropypropylene - having less than 50% of the heat shrinkability at a temperature T of the polypivalolactone fibres or filaments, and is shrunk in hot air steam or boiling water to produce a bulky yarn. In one example a heat-shrinkable multifilament polypivalolactone was plied with five substantially non heat-shrinkable but otherwise similar yarns.
