Abstract
1,131,314. Tractor driving gear. VALMET OY. 17 Oct., 1966 [7 Feb., 1966], No. 46265/66. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F2] An arrangement providing hydro-mechanical drive for use alternatively with conventional mechanical drive in a tractor comprises an hydraulic motor 3 energized by a pump 2 driven by the tractor engine, and a selector element 15 slidable, by control linkage, not shown, between alternative drive positions, viz.: (a) in which it connects the hydraulic motor via a reduction gear train 9, 11, 12, 16 to the input shaft 14 of the conventional change speed gear-box 13 for tractor speeds substantially less than normal, and (b) in which it connects the engine, via the conventional main clutch 18, directly to the input shaft 14 for normal tractor speeds. The selector element 15 is rotationally fast with but axially slidable on the input shaft 14 and comprises the externally toothed gear-wheel 16 engageable with the pinion 12 of the reduction gear train and an internally toothed clutch member 17 engageable with a clutch member 20 fast with the output shaft from the main clutch 18. The pump 2 may be the conventional pump of a tractor hydraulic lifting equipment and/or power take-off. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a known proportional flow distributer valve (22) directs a proportion of the oil from the pump 2 to the motor 3, the remaining oil being directed to the hydraulic lifting equipment of the tractor, this arrangement providing for simultaneous use of the motor 3 and the lifting equipment. The oil to the motor 3 is controlled by a threeposition four-way valve (25) for Forward, Reverse or Neutral. A pressure relief valve (30) preceding the valve (25) limits hydraulic motor torque to protect the gear-box 13 and the tractor tyres.
