Abstract

1,131,135. Making tap connections. AMP Inc. 3 May, 1966 [14 May, 1965], No. 19372/66. Heading H2E. [Also in Division D1] To connect a tap wire W to a line wire W<SP>1</SP>, a surface 16 of a receptacle 10 is arranged over the line wire W<SP>1</SP> and a wedge C is driven into the receptacle by an explosive tool so as to trap the wire W<SP>1</SP> and drive a similar wedge B between surfaces 12 and 14 to trap the tap wire W against the surface 12. The smaller end of the wedge C may then be swaged over by the tool to lock it in place. The wedge B may be modified so that a second tap wire may be trapped against the surface 14.
