Abstract

1,131,035. Vibrating a hopper. CARTER ENG. CO. 25 March, 1966, No. 13272/66. Heading B8S. The downward discharge of material from conical hopper 2 past horizontally sliding valve 203 of discharge opening 102 is assisted by vibration of the hopper and contents. Thus hopper 2 is suspended by links 301 pivoted as shown to fixed horizontal struts 104 carried by fixed frame 1 and its swing is guided by three rollers 307 also carried by the frame. Vibration of the hopper is effected by fluid cylinder 401 pivoted at 402 to the frame and linked as shown to the hopper so that hopper 2 rotates and rises simultaneously to vibrate in two dimensions.- The effect is to free the contents from the friction of the sides of the hopper and to permit them to drop and be discharged.
