Abstract

1,128,598. Concealed furniture hinge. GUSTAV BUHNERT METALLWAREN FABRIK K.G. 20 Feb., 1967, No. 7987/67. Heading E2F. A concealed door hinge comprises a casing 1 for mounting in the hinged edge of a door D, enclosing a cavity in which are pivotally attached angled inner and outer bars, 3<SP>1</SP> and 5<SP>1</SP> by swivel pins 4 and 6 respectively. At their other ends, the bars are attached by swivel pins 8 and 9 to a fitting 7 to be secured to the door jamb in the side wall of an article of furniture. When the door is in its fully open position, in Fig. 2, a portion 11 of the outer bar 5<SP>1</SP> lies directly against the corresponding face of the inner bar 3<SP>1</SP> and the swivel pins 4 and 6 lie one behind the other in a line parallel to the line of contact of the two bars to provide a rigid and positive stopping action on the door. Also the bar 3<SP>1</SP> has an aperture 10, which is engaged by a rounded peg 13 on the bar 5<SP>1</SP> in the said fully open position to prevent any longitudinal displacement of the bars along their line of contact. In the closed position, in Fig. 3, a second rounded peg 14 on the bottom wall of the casing engages the other side of the aperture 10. The width of the bars 3<SP>1</SP> and 5<SP>1</SP> is such that they occupy the full width of the cavity in the casing, and the inner bar 3<SP>1</SP> carries the weight of the closed door on the peg 14.
