Abstract

1,127,910. Impedance matching. TELEFUN. KEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS, G.m.b.H. 31 Dec., 1965 [25 Feb., 1965], No. 55397/65. Heading H1W. An elliptical, corrugated, flexible waveguide is joined to a rectangular waveguide by means of a junction member of generally rectangular cross-section, thus cross-section being modified at the end 1 intended to abut the elliptical guide by symmetrical enlargements of part conical form in the wide walls of the rectangular transition. The length of these enlargements is preferably three-quarters of a guide wavelength and the angle of taper α preferably lies between 2 degrees and 12 degrees. The mismatch at the junction between the transition and the elliptical waveguide is compensated by an adjustable screw 2 and either one or two further screws 4 or 3, 5. The cross-section of the elliptical guide at the junction may be reduced by the insertion of an iris.
