Abstract

1,127,869. Bunghole bushes. P. B. BUCKLEY. 13 Sept., 1967 [1 Nov., 1966], No. 48890/66. Heading B8T. A plastics bunghole bush comprises a larger plug 1 to be driven into a barrel bunghole, made integral with a smaller plug 2 by a weak connecting joint 8. The smaller plug 2 has a bore 6 closed by a rupturable film 7. When the larger plug 1 has been forced into a bunghole 3, as shown, the smaller plug 2 is driven into the larger plug, breaking the weak connecting joint 8, Fig. 2 (not shown). A peripheral ridge 10 around the smaller plug 2 then lodges in a groove 9 inside the larger plug 1. Finally, a tap &c. is driven through the film 7 into the barrel. The box 5 of the larger plug, and/or the outer surface of the smaller plug 2, may be tapered.
